Hi, my name is Brendan (aka “Dimbo”) and I make websites at HardHat. I also ride bikes and take pictures, and lately I’ve been completing my newest photography project; 30 Strangers 1 Question where I go around and ask people what makes them happy.
This week brings exciting news for Hard Hat with the announcement of our continued partnership with McCORMICK Foods Australia. We’ve been working with McCORMICK since 2008 on a campaign level, but will now look after their full digital account, following a move by the company to focus more strategically on online and social media channels.
The new business win aside, McCORMICK’s backing of digital marks a very important and exciting time for digitally-led agencies. What we’re seeing here is a continued trend towards digital as a central and fully integrated media focus, now backed by larger slices of the marketing budget.

We’ve benefited greatly from the selfless work done by open source community. With the support of Hard Hat I’m contributing something back with two new open source projects. Anyone can work on the code and use it for themselves just like the other projects we have up at http://github.com/hhd.
The first is a seriously kickass shopping cart plugin for the leading web framework: Ruby on Rails. This will let programmers tightly integrate a shopping cart into a custom made website in just a few lines of code. It’s designed to be easily tailored to the needs of more complex e-commerce systems.
